Coastal Surveillance
Protecting coastlines is a daunting task. Areas are often vast and encompass neighbouring countries, territorial waters, contiguous zones and Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ). Operators and decision makers must quickly discriminate normal activities from potential threats, while administrators need to monitor and maintain the entire system to ensure it is operating at peak effectiveness 24/7. Other stakeholders need to share data and be informed about situations, environmental disasters and search and rescue missions.
Coastal Surveillance is normally undertaken by Coast Guards.
Primary objectives include:
- Smuggling
- Illegal immigrants
- Piracy
- Terrorist acts
- Illegal fishing
- Hostage taking
- Other illegal activities
Secondary objectives include:
- Maritime Search & Rescue (SAR)
- Environmental Protection
Our solutions include high performance radar systems, electro optic cameras, AIS, radio communications and other appropriate sensors, as well as distributed networked command and control stations systems. All sites are connected using various communication technologies using copper, fiber-optic, microwave or satellite communications depending on the availability of local services.
